What This Site Provides

HerpesChance provides educational information and statistical risk estimates for common sexually transmitted infections, including HSV-1, HSV-2, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, and HPV. Our calculators use machine-learning models trained on publicly available CDC NHANES survey data to produce population-level probability estimates based on demographic and behavioral factors you provide.

What This Site Does Not Provide

Calculator outputs are not diagnostic tests. They do not detect infection, antibodies, or viral DNA. They cannot confirm or rule out any disease. HerpesChance does not provide medical diagnoses, treatment recommendations, or clinical advice. No doctor-patient or clinician-client relationship is created by using this site.

A high probability estimate does not mean you are infected; a low estimate does not mean you are not. These results reflect population-level statistics and cannot account for your individual circumstances. Only laboratory testing can confirm or rule out infection.

Not a Substitute for Professional Care

The information on this site is not a substitute for professional medical evaluation, diagnosis, or treatment. Always consult a qualified healthcare provider with questions about your health or before making decisions based on the information provided here.

When to Seek Immediate Help

If you are experiencing symptoms of a sexually transmitted infection, believe you have been recently exposed, are pregnant and concerned about STI transmission to your baby, or have any urgent health concern, please contact your doctor, visit an urgent care clinic, or call emergency services. Do not rely on an online calculator in place of timely medical care. Visit our Get Tested page for testing options.

Data Limitations

Our models are trained on NHANES data collected from a representative sample of the US civilian, non-institutionalized population between 2005 and 2016. Results may not generalize to populations outside the United States, to institutionalized individuals, or to time periods after the training data was collected. HPV models use data from only two survey cycles (2007–2010) with a smaller sample size. Prevalence patterns may have shifted since the data was collected, particularly for infections affected by vaccination programs.

Limitation of Liability

HerpesChance, its authors, and contributors are not liable for any damages arising from the use of or reliance on the information or calculator outputs provided on this site. All content is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied.
